Travel report
As a representative of the Finnish Chemical Society, I participated in the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Division of Analytical Chemistry of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS-DAC) followed by the Euroanalysis XXI conference in Geneva, Switzerland, on August 27-31, 2023.
EuChemS-DAC
The Division of Analytical Chemistry of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS-DAC) is a network of chemical societies and their members working in all fields of analytical sciences. EuChemS-DAC is based in Europe and aims at close links to related institutions all over the world. EuChemS-DAC develops the profile of analytical chemistry and promotes the Euroanalysis that is a biannual international conference covering the latest developments in analytical sciences.
The 2023 Annual Meeting (54th Meeting of EuChemS-DAC) was held on August 27, 2023 at 9.00-12.00 at the International Conference Centre Geneva (CIGG), Geneva, Switzerland. The meeting was chaired by Marcela Segundo.
Euroanalysis XXI conference
The Euroanalysis XXI conference (2023) was held at the International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG), and was organized jointly by EuChemS-DAC, the Divison of Analytical Sciences of the Swiss Chemical Society (DAS) and the University of Geneva. The theme of the conference was “Analytical Probing of Complex Systems”. In addition to several short courses, the conference program included 11 plenary lectures, 28 keynote lectures, 37 invited talks, over 120 oral presentations, and over 200 posters.
During the conference, the recipient of the EuChemS-DAC award, Prof. Damià Barceló (IDAEA-CSIC, Barcelona, Spain) gave an award lecture on “Microplastics in the aquatic
environment: green analytical protocols, vectors of pharmaceuticals and risk to biota”. Prof. Antje Bäumner (University of Regensburg, Germany) received the Robert Kellner Award and in her award lecture she presented “Where nanomaterials can be a unique tool for the improvement of biosensors”. Warm congratulations to the award winners!
The next Euroanalysis XXII conference will be organized 31.8-4.9.2025 in Barcelona, Spain.
